I've had the opportunity to lead and develop several workflow management systems for teams to meet client and governmental timelines that involves understanding all aspects of the project and how to set it up for success. One of my largest clients had 120+ moving parts that needed to be coordinated (some in very specific orders) in order for us to adequately complete the work. I broke the project down in layers to determine what needed to be done first and line it up correctly. Then I focused on building the team to be able to fit the needs of the project at different levels and giving some team members more authority to lead out on certain parts of the project as supporting partners. Once the plan was developed, I shared it with the full team as well as the client to show them what we were planning to do and how we needed their support (providing timely information as the plan progressed) to get full buy-in and if needed, what potential pit-falls needed to be considered and adjust for the plan to work. It was well set up and executed and helped clarify many steps in the process to deliver exceptional results to the client, while relieving any unnecessary stress on the team.
